Are we changing for the better ? - Interviewees wanted

In Ireland many animal rights groups celebrated victories recently in areas of fur farming bans and more. Yet, while Scotland, a country similar in size and population, puts down about 450 unwanted animals a year, we are putting down over
10 000!

Is the pressue of the EU and the international communities forcing the Irish public to rethink their relationship with animals or are the Irish actually changing for the better?

WILD TIME wants to explore that in a 3 - 4 part series and is looking for experts and activists and regular Joe's to find out where we're at here on the green island !

Pls get in touch via facebook, email: info@holisticanimalhealing.net or via phone 086 - 31 01 422

Thanks,

Thomas Janak

WILD TIME to return to the Digital Hub FM

WILD TIME, currently known as WILD TIME ONLINE returns to the Digital Hub FM.

From late November 2009 The Digital Hub FM on 94.3fm will return for 5 (or six) more Friday's before this years' broadcasting sessions will come to a close.

Because events about the environment and animal rights won't stop just because the broadcasting times of the Digital Hub are limited - the online version of the show will continue as soon as The Digital Hub FM is off air again.

Psychologist wanted as a guest on WILD TIME

We have just posted the news about an open cat hate group who call themselves "Fans of the Miami serial cat killer" when we heard about another disturbing case of animal cruelty, see HERE

WILD TIME is looking for a psychologist to come on air who can help us understand what triggers mindless violence.

Please contact us!!!

"FANS of a serial cat killer" group formed on Facebook

Shortly after the arrest of 18 years-old Tyler Weinman for a string of cat mutilations a group of cat haters have formed a group called "Fans of the Miami Serial Cat Killer".

We find this incident and the following portrayal of open cat hatred very disturbing. Thomas Janak sent an email to Barry Sharon who formed the hate group and asked him to explain his actions to him and his listeners.

We'll see if and what he answers.

More about Bolivia

The videos are terrible (WARNING!)

ENGLISH

1. Two dogs were beheaded in front of television cameras.

2. During carnival and religious celebrations, hundreds of wild endangered
species animals are sacrificed, for festive clothing, renewed each year.

3. A sub-lieutenant of the army brutally assassinates a dog, during a training
session in knife-stabbing. (watch video, WARNING: don't if you are sensitive,

5. In a macabre ritual, military disembowel a live dog. (watch video, WARNING:

7. A dog is tortured and crucified, no one knows why or by whom. (see photos at
http://picasaweb.google.com/surell/Bolivia?feat=directlink)

8. It is customary practice of the Cochabamba Municipal Kennel's personnel
(Zoonosis), to abandon the animals during week-ends, without water or food. They
now threaten to kill 8 dogs, left in deplorable conditions this past week-end.
It was discovered that the Zoonosis Chief's dog had his ears and tail brutally
cut off (with untreated wounds), for "experiments" and because "I can do
whatever I want with my dog" (actual quote). Even dogs with owners looking
desperately for them, mysteriously "disappear".

9. At Solomon Klein Hospital in Cochabamba, 3,000 anti-rabies vaccines were
burnt, which made the municipal veterinarians come out and start killing every
dog, covering up the vaccine disaster to SEDES (Government Health Officials).

10. Cats and dogs which present a nuisance, or are no longer wanted, are simply
hung by the neck in houses or trees, in sight of everyone.

11. All kinds and species of animals are poisoned throughout the year, with
strychnine, thus forming a "death chain", endangering public health and damaging
the environment - this goes on in Sucre, Potosi, Oruro, Cochabamba, Las Minas
and other departments.

For all this and much more, and for a Law of Animal Protection to be finally
enforced in Bolivia, which will punish animal abusers as criminals, please sign
this Petition, which will be presented with a Letter to President Evo Morales
and his government.

A very engaging guest: Lothar Muschkikat from "Eagles Flying"
Lothar Muschkikat and Thomas Janak after the show

Thomas Janak welcomed the appearance of Lothar Muschkikat of the Raptor and Birds Of Pray sanctuary "Eagles Flying" (n the studio) and "Silver" from "Silvers Ferret and Exotic Bird Sanctuary" (on the phone) to WILD TIME.

The show explored a very different area of animal welfare topics when talking about the issues faced by wild birds, exotics and ferrets.

Read and check out what Silver has to offer:

Ferret or bird issues:
* When faced with any reason at all why you can no longer keep your ferret(s) or parrot(s) (budgie, lovebird, cockatoo, etc).
* When you happen to have a ferret or bird you can no longer handle, has turned ‘vicious’, is sick or noisy or too expensive?
* When you’re desperately looking for help with some behavioural or training issues or even just for some general life improvements.

Here's what you do:
* Pick up the phone and call us: 087-1234443 or, if you prefer, Email us on SilversSanctuary@Gmail.com
* We will deal with improvement, behavioural and training issues at the animal’s home where possible.
* With handovers we’ll arrange to collect the ferret(s) or bird(s) from your home.
* We will not give you money for your ferret or bird. As a not-for-profit organisation we just can’t.
* We will not breed with them, nor sell them on. Birds will chipped and vaccinated. Ferrets will be chipped, neutered/spayed and vaccinated.
* If you wish, we will send you updates on the progress of you ferret or bird.
* Finally - congratulate yourself for doing the right thing for your ferret or bird!

PS - WE ARE A GENUINE NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANISATION, VET REFERENCE ON REQUEST!

STEREO/MONO - Tipp of the week

WILD TIME host Thomas Janak recently spent a day and a half in Glasgow, where he went to an ULTRAVOX gig.

Volunteers of Animal Aid UK recommended a tasty and wonderful vegan restaurant to Thomas and his girlfriend Nicole, called STEREO, located at 20/28 Renfield Lane, just 1 minute away from Glasgow Central Station.

The couple had scrambled tofu and a dairy - free cheese cake and they enjoyed that very much.

STEREO also is linked to another vegan restaurant fittingly called MONO, located at Kings Court, Kings Street, Glasgow

Lothar F. Muschekat from the Irish Raptor and Bird of Prey Sanctuary

Fellow German animal lover Lothar F. Muschekat confirmed his appearance on WILD TIME on May 15th. The bird expert will be live in the studio on that day and this promises to be quite an interesting show.

Also in the making is an interview with feline expert Dr. Vet Sarah Caney on one of the shows in May 2009.

Thomas Janak also tries to get a phone interview with members of an animal rights group in Germany, which is currently trying to put a stop to sexual animal abuse through interspecies-sex between humans and their animals or animals that are bred for that very purpose only - we'll keep you posted.

Jenny Douglas had to pull out regarding the planned phone interview for this Friday and we will be interviewing her at a later stage.

Thomas Janak will be talking to Gerald Keen, a German animal activist, whose house has been set on fire and some of his dogs died in the flames. He also tries to raise funds for BETTY, an animal that needs medical attention.

WILD TIME will also report on ARAN's seal hunt protest and the footage will include an interview with ARAN founder John Carmody and Philippe Carr, Pressofficer for the EU Commission representatives of Ireland.

On March 10th ARAN staged a peaceful protest against Canada's seal hunt and ...

"Cruelty Free Products in Dublin" show pre-recorded

With all March shows fully scheduled, Thomas Janak and his girlfriend recently went to town to "hunt down" shops that offer meat-free and cruelty-free products. The interviewees of this show, which is scheduled for APRIL 4th 2009, include Jack Irwin from DOWN TO EARTH, members of staff from NOURISH, HEALTH MATTERS, THE BODY SHOP and Phil West from CORNUCOPIA.

Special thanks to Phil by the way as he was so generous and treated Thomas and his girlfriend Nicole, who took all the pictures posted below, for a lovely piece of cake free of charge. As a radio program maker "threatening people with a microphone" one very rarely gets spoiled like that. A brilliant ending to an exciting Saturday morning on the hunt for cruelty - free products!
